With an average yearly temperature of 75 degrees, any time is the best time to visit Medellin. However, The City of Eternal Spring has a few periods during the year where if crowds are something you wish to avoid and discretion is on top of your priorities, you will want to steer clear of.
The week prior and leading up to Easter is a period where students have the week off and many Colombians are off work due to religious festivities. During this time, locals travel and even though it’s not the best time for nightlife in Medellin, landlords spike up their prices and the city shuts down pretty much after good Thursday.
Medellin tourism is at an all time high during the last week in July and first few weeks of August. Known as the Feria de Flores (Medellin Flower Festival) this period has been historically one of our busiest times of the year. Once again, landlords often charge up to $2500 per night for properties that are usually $1000.
Last but not least, Medellin travel increases during the month of December (for many this is the best time to visit Medellin). The city’s yearly tradition of putting up amazing themed Christmas lights, allures thousands each year. Things to do in Medellin increase during this month but so do prices and crowds.

For starters, Guatape should be on everyone’s bucket list. The quaint little town is not just colorful but also has an interesting past that lures hundreds every year. It’s red, yellow and blue houses, boat tours and million year old monolith makes this place a must for Medellin travel.
Pueblito paisa is also an emblematic location and has been on Medellin tourism posters for years. Pueblito paisa or Paisa Town sits on a hill in the center of the city. On top of the hill, aside from the amazing view you get of the city, you also have a replica of a colonial Spanish town. The replica includes a church and a few restaurants.
